Fish roll Is it tasty and delightful treat that’s made by rolling fish fillets with a delicious filling and frying them or baking to perfection. This dish or treat basically joins the goodness of the fish with the savory filling, all combined into a tasty package.
There are versatile ways to make this snack, You can either choose to bake or fry them, whatever your preference they both still come out great. Fish rolls are a clever way to incorporate fish into your diets, so it’s safe to say that fish rolls are a healthy meal choice because fish contains protein, vitamins and minerals.
This snack is perfect with the right guidelines and procedures, which is why in this article I’ll be giving a detailed guide on how to make a mouthwatering fish roll. With that being said, let’s get started!
Ingredients For Making Fish Rolls:
- 1 pound of cod or tilapia cut into two inch pieces
- 2 cups of flour
- 2 eggs
- 1 tablespoon of baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon of salt
- 1 tablespoon of dried thyme
- ½ cup of bread crumbs
- ¼ cup of water
- ½ teaspoon of ground ginger
- ¼ cup of vegetable oil
- ½ cup of milk
- 1 tablespoon of crushed garlic
- ½ cup of sweet corn
- 1 tablespoon of ground nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon of dried parsley
- ½ cup of grated parmesan cheese(optional)
- Canola oil for deep frying
- ½ cup of finely chopped red bell pepper
- ¼ cup of finely chopped green bell pepper
- ¼ cup of chopped green onions
Though, most of these ingredients are optional but they add a little more flavor to your fish rolls. With that being said let’s get started!
Directions:
- Prepare your ingredients to be ready for use.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and salt and mix properly then make a whole at the center and pour in ¼ cup of water, milk, eggs and oil and mix properly until it forms a dough.
- Knead the dough until it becomes smooth and stretchy then cover the dough for about 30 minutes with a damp cloth.
- Prepare your fish to be used. Wash it and pat it dry then season it with pepper, salt, nutmeg, thyme, ginger, parsley and garlic. You can add the parmesan cheese if you like… to add more flavor to your fish rolls. But they’re completely optional.
- Dust your work space with flour and roll the dough to 1/8 inch thickness then cut it into six inch circles.
- After cutting it into six inch circles, place the fish, some green onions, some red and green bell peppers in the center of the cut out circles and roll it up or fold it and press the edges together to seal. Coat the rolled up fish rolls with the bread crumbs to give it a crunchy texture.
- Heat up your oil for frying or you set your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Fry or bake the fish rolls and let it rest for some time. Then serve the fish rolls with a dipping sauce or anything drink you like.
