Chin chin is a popular Nigerian treat that is absolutely crispy and delicious. This treat is enjoyed by many Nigerians and it serves a lot of purposes such as; used in occasions and gatherings as appetizers or better still given as a gift.
This treat is basically made by making a dough from flour, sugar, milk, butter, and sometimes spices like nutmeg or cinnamon. This dough is then cut into small pieces and then it is fried until it’s golden brown. This treat is tasty and crispy, it’s definitely a must try.

- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup of milk

- Oil for frying

Procedure On How To Make Chin Chin:
- Gather all your ingredients and prepare them to be ready for use.
- Get a bowl and combine the dry ingredients together. Put the flour, salt, baking powder, nutmeg, cinnamon and sugar and mix it properly until all the ingredients is well combined.
- Get another bowl and mix the wet ingredients. Combine the eggs, milk, and melted butter together in the bowl. Mix very well until the ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Combine the wet ingredients and the dry ingredients together. Slowly pour in the wet mixture into the dry mixture and mix well until it forms a dough.
- After combining the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients to form a dough, knead the dough on a surface sprinkled with flour until it becomes smooth and stretchy.
- Divide the kneaded dough into smaller sections and knead a thin sheet not too thick then cut into small squares pieces. And repeat for all the other sections.
- Heat up the vegetable oil for frying in a deep pan on a medium- high heat. Once the oil is got, put the cut up chin chin into the pan and let it fry until it’s golden brown. Repeat this for the remaining chin chin.
- After frying the chin chin, put it in a paper towel lined tray to dry the oil and let it cool off for a bit. After cooling, place in an air tight container and that’s it! Your homemade chin chin is ready to be enjoyed anytime you want.
